Some more information about 'Cornelia Tessari'

The story of this beautiful family estate begins with a small wine cellar in 1933, started by grandfather Antonio and his wife, Cornelia Tessari. Antonio built the first vineyards and facilities entirely by hand. Even then, he developed the passion and dedication that would come to define all the Griselas (the nickname for the Tessari family).

As a strong woman alongside her husband, the estate was named after Cornelia. Their son Aldo and his wife Bianca further expanded and nurtured the estate, bringing it to full bloom, and today it is passed down to their children: Antonio, Germano, and their daughter Cornelia (who shares the same name as her grandmother).

Cornelia Tessari is considered among the absolute top in the region. The passion and love for Garganega can be tasted in every bottle. They also produced their first Reciotto, and their “1st Ettaro” is nothing less than the white counterpart to the renowned Amarone wines. All vineyards at Tessari are cultivated organically.

The vineyards of Cornelia Tessari

The climate

The vineyards of Cornelia Tessari are located in the hills of Monteforte d'Alpone, at an average altitude of around 150 meters above sea level.

This location provides a cool microclimate with significant temperature differences between day and night, which is beneficial for the aromatic development of the grapes.

The terroir

The soil is rich in volcanic basalt and clay, which contributes to excellent drainage and enhances the minerality of the wines.

This soil composition is typical of the Soave Classico zone and gives the wines a distinctive saline minerality and a fresh, lively acidity.

Winegrowing in the Soave Classico Area of Veneto

In Soave Classico, great care is taken with sustainable and organic winemaking. Winemakers in the region respect the environment and promote biodiversity in their vineyards. Many producers use natural methods to control pests and diseases, such as biological control or carefully managed vineyard biodiversity.

In addition, natural fermentation is increasingly used, where the native yeasts present in the vineyard initiate the fermentation. This can give the wines a unique character and helps capture the authenticity of the terroir.
