2019 Galan Vineyards Reserva Privada Carmenère 0.75 Ltr. Tinto
picture of

Beautiful, deep, dark and ruby red color. The nose is dominated by dried fruits and plums. But after waltzing we also discover black currants, spices, more roasted notes and a spicy pepper. Wine with a lot of body and a pleasantly soft character. Nicely roasted and juicy final.

Carmenère requires a nice piece of meat. The combination with its aging in wooden barrels further enhances this property. Be sure to try it with a spicy stew (such as tagine), game preparations and other Mediterranean or spicy preparations.

climate

Located quite southerly between ideal latitudes, Maule Valley is slightly cooler than other major wine regions in Chile. It enjoys slightly more precipitation that falls mainly in winter and many hours of sunshine. It is warm during the day and the temperature drops sharply at night, making it probably the most privileged wine valley in Chile. The general characteristics are comparable to a Mediterranean climate.

soil

The vineyards are located in Maule Valley near Curicó. The Maule River supplies the valley with alluvial sedimentary rocks. The soils are quite varied and consist of granite, red clay, loam and gravel. The soils on the slopes are poorer and with good water management. In the valley itself on the river, the subsoil is richer with higher yields.

vinification

Grapes are picked in the cool of the morning. Classic fermentation under controlled temperature in stainless steel vats with maceration on the pellets. The wine is then transferred to French oak and matured there for another 10 months. Then it is bottled and released.
